1,800 trees as a symbol of environmental responsibility
One element of this sustainability strategy is the planting of 1,800 climate-resistant trees – for each of the 1,800 safes sold from the high-quality Diplomat to Royal series in 2023.
Wetter (Ruhr) This is where BW has its roots, between the Ruhr Valley and Sauerland. This is where we build and finish our heaviest safes, e.g. the Diplomat and Royal series, 1,800 units of which were produced in 2023. This region is known as a local recreation area for the Ruhr area – unfortunately, its endless spruce forests are no longer, because the bark beetle has almost completely destroyed many monocultures.
That is why BW is supporting the reforestation of the disaster areas with 1,800 trees – one robust (or climate-resistant) tree for every robust safe deposit box

‘Healthy diversity is the recipe for the forest of the future and gives our children a secure perspective,’ says Ruben Filmar, forester and organiser of the planting campaign.

On 2 November 2024, a team of employees from sales, marketing and logistics, together with the management, made their way to Breckerfeld, the highest town in the EN district. Some even brought their families with them. ‘It's fun to work together as a team to ensure sustainability.
It fits with our job – we enjoy selling long-lasting security.’ The mood is good up here. As one colleague is planting an English oak, another says: ‘One tree doesn't make a forest, but together we are happy (strong).’ The forest of the future is diverse: it consists of deep-rooted trees such as the service tree, Japanese fir, hornbeam and small-leaved lime, which can live for up to 1,000 years. The motto is no coincidence: planting for our future.
